The situation created in J & K by the Govts at Centre and the State is not of recent origin. It was waiting to happen because of the imbalance in the three distinctive regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The three regions have nothing in common except that they were ruled by the same King or his predecessors for some time as one entity. They are culturally different, have very different demography and geography. Hence their requirements for development and growth are also different. Because of the Policy of the successive Govts at Centre we continued to appease the people of Kashmir and completely ignored the other two. All the funds over the years were very conveniently diverted to the valley and as if that were not enough we also gave them additional ones to compensate them for the disturbance caused due to militancy. I have never had this opportunity or any compulsive reason before this to take time out and write this and post it on my blog. As most of the middle andupper middle class people of India who are busy trying to meet their professional and social timelines I too have been embroiled in the same rat race.
