The situation created in J & K by the Govts at Centre and the State is not of recent origin. It was waiting to happen because of the imbalance in the three distinctive regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. The three regions have nothing in common except that they were ruled by the same King or his predecessors for some time as one entity. They are culturally different, have very different demography and geography. Hence their requirements for development and growth are also different. Because of the Policy of the successive Govts at Centre we continued to appease the people of Kashmir and completely ignored the other two.
